The business was founded in the late twenties by Leo Dawson Jennings and grew steadily before moving to its current site.

In 1965, after Leo's death, his sons founded the company L. D. Jennings Ltd.

The company developed gradually over the years and at one point had five retail shops in the Reading area. With the advent of the "one stop shop" supermarket, the future of the retail sector did not look promising. At this point a decision was made to explore the catering sector.

Our efforts to bring to the caterer the level of personal service and value for money that we achieved in our retail shops has led us to be the premier catering butcher in Reading and the surrounding area.

In 1999 L. D. Jennings was awarded the Thames Valley Chamber of Commerce Gold award for Quality.
